A Well-Deserved Ice Cream Break for Mira

Ice cream is wonderful for milk production and I am sure it seems like heaven after a day of giving birth and caring for a new family. Mira agrees! Here she enjoys a bowl of butter pecan while the Gang of Five contentedly sleeps with bellies full of Mira milk.

A good ending to a long day for everyone.

Mira's new little family

Mama Mira (seen here all curly from a post-whelping bath) has been taking great care of her gang of five.

Hope you enjoy the shots of the little family together on day one and also the shots that follow of the boys in a basket while their whelping box is being cleaned and Mira is out for a meal and constitutional.

Gang of Five: Mira & Ash's new family

Here they are: the Gang of Five. All boys. All black.

They know they are special already.

5 boys for Mira and Ash

Pups have arrived and Mira and they doing well. All 5 are boys. Incredible!

We're Having Pups!

3 black males thus far!

Mira had the first pup at 7:20am, the second at 8:05am, the third at 8:40am.

Pups are vigorous and nursing with gusto. I'll post photos after everyone has arrived.

Ash & Mira are expecting pups!

5 pups, to be exact!

Xray showed 5 pups today. Exciting! Puppies are due sometime in the next week.

Mira is over 47 lbs, pretty uncomfortable, but still eating, especially if the food offered is interesting. I can feel the pups moving when I place my hands on her belly and/or sides. They are pretty active pups, which helps explain Mira's discomfort.

Mira is a beautiful girl

Mira is formally known as AKC Champion Dinsdale Chimera Mirari. Mira is a very loving, loyal and laid-back girl. She is also very pretty and very sure of herself. Mira is a great mom and she has passed her intelligent, loyalty, and affectionate personality on to her pups.

Ash is a handsome fellow

Ash is formally known as AKC Champion Dinsdale-Chimera Man-in-Black. He's a wonderful, sweet, affectionate, friendly dog who has produced that temperament in his pups. Ash will be moving to Canada in this Autumn to begin his Canadian show dog and stud dog career. Ash will be loved and cared for by the breeder of his mother, Lori Elvin of Dinsdale Standard Schnauzers. After his time in Canada, Ash will return to Milwaukee. Can't be without my "love bug" for long!
